Welcome, soldier. This document outlines how Suburban Siege HQ (the “Command”) handles your personal reconnaissance data. We take your privacy as seriously as we take territorial defense planning. Which is to say: very seriously, but with a healthy dose of Australian humour.
Section 1: Intelligence Gathered
When you enlist with Suburban Siege, we may collect the following intel:
Account Information
Name and email address (provided via Google or GitHub authentication). We don't store your OAuth passwords - that's between you and your identity provider.
Generated Content
Defense plans, battle reports, threat assessments, and other satirical content you create. This is stored to let you access your war room history.
Usage Data
API usage logs including timestamps, IP addresses, and feature usage. This helps us understand how the site is being used and troubleshoot issues.
Preferences
Your “Sledge Protocol” setting (language intensity preference) and other customisation choices you make.
Section 2: Strategic Use of Intelligence
Your data is used for the following tactical purposes:
- Providing you with access to your account and generated content
- Improving site performance and fixing bugs (error logs)
- Generating AI-powered satirical content via Claude (Anthropic)
- Preventing abuse and ensuring fair usage
- Responding to your inquiries if you contact us
We do NOT:
- Sell your personal information to third parties
- Use your data for targeted advertising
- Share your generated content without your permission (unless you use the share feature)
- Actually plan real invasions of your neighbours' suburbs
Section 3: Allied Forces (Third Parties)
We work with the following trusted allies:
Anthropic (Claude AI)
Generates your satirical defense plans and battle reports. Your suburb names and preferences are sent to their API. See their privacy policy at anthropic.com.
Vercel
Hosts the website. Standard web server logs are collected.
Neon (PostgreSQL)
Stores our database. Your account and content data resides here securely.
Google / GitHub
Authentication providers. We receive your name and email when you sign in.
Section 4: Field Rations (Cookies)
We use cookies for essential functionality:
- Session cookies: Keep you logged in
- Preference cookies: Remember your settings (mobile/desktop mode)
We don't use tracking cookies for advertising. No sneaky surveillance here - we save that for the enemy suburbs.
Section 5: Fortifications (Security)
We protect your data with:
- HTTPS encryption for all connections
- Secure authentication via OAuth providers
- Database encryption at rest
- Regular security reviews
That said, no fortification is impenetrable. We do our best to protect your intel, but use the site at your own risk.
Section 6: Your Rights & Contact
You have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you
- Request deletion of your account and associated data
- Update your preferences at any time
- Lodge a complaint if you think we've mishandled your data
To exercise these rights or ask questions, contact Command at: privacy@suburban-siege.com
(That email goes to a real human, not a bot. We'll respond within a reasonable timeframe, war permitting.)
Section 7: Australian Operations
Suburban Siege is an Australian operation. We comply with the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs) under the Privacy Act 1988. Your data may be processed in various locations (our servers are in Australia/Asia-Pacific where possible, but some services like Anthropic's API may route through the US).
If you're accessing from the EU, be aware that by using the site you consent to data processing as described here. We're not big enough to warrant full GDPR compliance infrastructure, but we respect the spirit of data protection.
Standing Orders
We may update this policy from time to time. Major changes will be announced on the site. Continued use after changes means you accept the updated policy. Check back occasionally - you never know when the rules of engagement might change.
This privacy policy is effective as of December 2025.
Remember: This is a satirical entertainment site. We're not actually planning suburban warfare. Please don't invade your neighbours.
